Doutzen Kroes

Doutzen Kroes (born January 23, 1985 in Friesland, The Netherlands) is a Dutch supermodel.

Career

Doutzen says of how she started her career: "I was 18, spending my holidays in a camp, complaining about not having pocket money. A friend of mine suggested that I could be a model. I found stupid the idea of sending pics of me to an agency, I had the fantasy of being "discovered" like Claudia Schiffer, in a nightclub. But I sent them anyways, without telling neither my family nor my friends, thinking that "if I become famous I'll invent a more glamorous story for the press..." and if I had been rejected, it would have saved my honour. An agency in Amsterdam immediately made me sign a contract. And I kept my somewhat cheesy story..."
She has graced the covers of Time, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Numero, appeared in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2005 and 2006, and was named in August 2005 as the replacement for Christy Turlington in the Calvin Klein "eternity" fragrance campaign. She is regularly featured in the Victoria's Secret catalog, and in the Gucci, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Escada, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, and Neiman Marcus campaigns. Doutzen has also appeared on the catwalk and is in high demand for many prestigious designers. She is represented by YES Models and Paparazzi.
In 2005, she was selected as Model of The Year on Vogue.com by readers.
In April 2006, Doutzen signed a three-year contract with cosmetics company L'Oréal Paris.
